Daniel Pohl, CEO of immerVR
**Abstract**
With the rise of consumer virtual reality, immersive media such as stereoscopic 180° and 360° content becomes more popular. We show the current state of the art with an overview of available camera models, tools and platforms. We discuss the challenges in the current state to a road to mainstream consumption of immersive media. This includes technical issues, but also social aspects. We present our latest published research on mitigation strategies regarding phobias during consuming immersive media. Furthermore, we have a short outlook to what comes next, giving a quick overview of depth map-enhanced immersive media, 6-DoF content and AI-generated 3D scenes.
**Speaker Bio**
Daniel Pohl has been a research scientist at Intel for 14 years where he pioneered on topics such as real-time ray tracing for games, cloud gaming, virtual reality and drones. Since two years, he is CEO of the startup immerVR GmbH in Germany with a technical focus on immersive media. Daniel has about 15 peer-reviewed publications and is inventor on 70 filed patents.
