**ABSTRACT**
The automotive industry is undergoing a seismic shift, driven by technological advancements that are redefining the future of mobility. This talk delves into the key factors fueling this transformation, such as evolving consumer demands, vehicle electrification, and the influence of IoT on Electric/Electronic (E/E) platforms. Traditional automotive systems are being replaced by more open, flexible platforms that utilize High-Performance Computers (HPC) to host an expanding array of software from diverse vendors. This sets the stage for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV), which offer the ability to update, secure, and personalize vehicle functions throughout their lifecycle. These SDVs not only enhance current vehicles but also provide valuable insights for future developments. However, the full potential of SDVs can only be realized through the adoption of cloud-native technologies. These, supported by ecosystem initiatives like [SOAFEE](https://www.soafee.io/), [Eclipse.SDV](https://projects.eclipse.org/working-group/eclipse-software-defined-vehicle), and the newly formed [SDV alliance](https://www.soafee.io/news/2024/sdv_announcement), enable a “big loop” for continuous data collection, insights generation, and software deployment – including AI capabilities. These are the foundations that are finally opening the automotive sector to a significantly wider community of digital contributors.
